    Nature Explorers Day Camp Week 2 (Ages 6-8)

    Children ages 6 to 8 will learn about animal adaptations, explore aquatic life in Paxton Creek and enjoy a live animal presentation. Each day will focus on a new, fun topic about our local plants and animals and include nature themed activities and crafts. Please register for only one week. Registration limited to 20 campers.

    Introduction to Tai Chi

    Join us to experience Tai Chi! This program is being offered in partnership with the Chinese Cultural & Arts Institute and will be taught by instructor Chen-Yu Tsuei. Tai chi has been practiced in China for centuries as a means of improving the flow of energy within the body, and also as a martial art. Tai chi is an exercise/movement and breathing system that exercises all the joints and major muscle groups while circulating the "Qi" (氣), the internal energy. A Park Rx wellness program sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield. Pre-registration is required to participate in this program. Space is limited.

    We can't control the world, but we can control how we choose to focus. This program will teach the basics of meditation with a focus on discovering your true inner power. Pre-registration is required, space is limited.

    Pound the Colors of Wildwood into Cloth

    Design a unique 18” x 18” cotton pillow cover using flowers and leaves from Wildwood Park. Natural Dyer Carol Reed will lead participants on a short walk to forage plant material at the Park before returning to the Olewine Pavilion where participants can choose from additional flowers and herbs from her garden.     Kids Discover: Hummingbirds (Ages 8-12)

    Speed, strength, agility and personality, all in one tiny package. Hummingbirds, though they weigh less than an ounce, are incredibly impressive creatures. From their beautiful metallic feathers to their rapid wingbeats to their specialized beak, these little birds have tons of interesting and unique qualities. Registrants must be accompanied by a chaperone for the duration of the program; a maximum of one chaperone per child. Space is limited. Pre-registration required.

    Outdoor Week (Ages 12-14)

    , Harrisburg
    Outdoor enthusiasts ages 12 to 14 will spend the week in nature exploring the natural world and learning basic wilderness survival skills. Each day will include a hike and digging deeper into a different aspect of survival. Activities may include fire building, wild edibles, water filtration, and navigation skills. Discover the importance of teamwork during daily “initiative” challenges and activities. The week will also include an off-site hiking trip and tandem kayaking experience. Registration is limited to 18 campers.

    Intro to West African Dance

    African dance and drum reduce stress and anxiety, build self-esteem, and assist with weight loss. This energy-filled class provides an opportunity to experience West African culture through learning traditional dance movements accompanied by live music, using traditional drums. Advance registration is required. Space is limited.
