Take a stroll through "Squirrel’s Sweater" at the brand-new Lyken’s Glen Park StoryWalk! As Winter approaches, everyone is bundled up for the snowy season ahead except Squirrel. Discover how Squirrel’s friends help her find a new way to cherish her favorite sweater.

Make an evergreen wreath out of natural materials. Everything will be supplied to make a wreath with decorations from nature, including cones, berries, nuts and seed pods. Wreath assembly will occur indoors with optional decorating to follow. Bring personal work gloves and/or decorations.

oin a Naturalist for a night-time stroll at Detweiler Park. Discover WHO may be calling in the night and the eight different species of owls found in Pennsylvania. A 1.5-mile walk on various terrain will lead us through spruce trees and along field and forest edges. This prowl will focus on using our sense of hearing while listening for responses to owl calls.

Enjoy a moderately-paced walk around Wildwood Lake while enjoying the trees and animals at the park. This will be a walk on paved, gravel, and dirt surfaces. You can choose to walk only a portion, then turn around at any point if you would like to customize the length of your walk to your individual fitness goals.

Join a Naturalist for a night-time stroll at Wiconisco Creek Park.

Join us for a walk from City Island along the Harrisburg Riverfront and back. The full walk is approximately 2.5 miles. This Walk With A Doc program is designed to provide some general health information and a moderately-paced walk. A Park Rx program sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield and supported by Penn State Health.

Christmas Bird Counts are the longest-running citizen science survey, helping to track bird populations and promote their conservation.

SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS ONLY | 12:30 - 4:30 PM. In our “kids only” shop, children can safely shop for small gifts for their loved ones with the help of our volunteers. Most gifts are under $15 WITH items suitable for all ages. After shopping, all gifts will be wrapped, labeled, and ready for the holidays.
