Suicide Prevention Resource Guide
Crisis Intervention is the 24-hour emergency mental health service provided by the Dauphin County Mental Health/Intellectual Disabilities Program. Crisis Intervention staff provide supportive counseling, outreach, assessment, and referral information to individuals experiencing an emotional crisis or difficulty coping with a personal problem.
- De-escalating and supporting an individual or family in a crisis
- Serve as a liaison to police, emergency departments, mental health facilities, and providers
- Provide risk assessments and psychosocial assessment
- Provide brief follow-up and support to individuals and families after a crisis
- Provide information and referrals to individuals and families
- Identify alternatives to hospitalization when possible and facilitate voluntary or involuntary hospitalization when appropriate
- .Provide mental health disaster responses to the community, including first responder.s
- Provide consultation and mental health training to community agencie.s
Walk-in Crisis services are face-to-face contact with individuals in crisis or with individuals seeking help for persons in crisis. Services include assessment, information and referral, crisis counseling, crisis resolution, and access to community resources.
