Transportation
Capital Area Transit’s (CAT) Paratransit Division provides Share-A-Ride Transportation service to County residents age 65 or older who cannot use the fixed route bus system or who reside in areas not served by community based transportation programs. Appointments for trips must be scheduled 24 hours in advance and by noon of the day before the trip. Appointments can be made up to two weeks in advance. Riders must be ready 15 minutes before and until 15 minutes after their scheduled pick-up time. To cancel a trip, clients must call at least one (1) hour prior to pick up time. Transportation service is available to residents age 65 or older. Those residents age 65 or over will need to obtain a Share-A-Ride card. Register at the CAT office by presenting proof of age.
CAT information can be obtained by calling (717) 232-6100.
The cost of Share-A-Ride transportation for registered seniors age 65 and older is subsidized by the PA Lottery. Riders with disabilities under the age of 65 qualify for the discount rate under the Americans with Disability Act.
